Jared Schwartz

ROV Pilot
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

My name is Jared Schwartz. I was born in Worcester, MA, and grew up in Grafton, MA. At the age of 12 I moved to Falmouth, MA, where I attended Falmouth High School.  One of my main hobbies is sailing. I have been sailing all my life, and competitively sailing since age 8.  I was on the Falmouth High School sailing team, as well as the Falmouth Yacht Club team. Due to all the exposure to the water and outdoors I encountered at a young age, I knew I would need a job that kept me involved with this. I decided to attend the University of Rhode Island where I received my degree in Ocean Engineering. Around my sophomore year of college, I began research diving for URI. I was able to use both my short history with engineering and research diving, to help me obtain a part time summer job at WHOI. I began working for MVCO (Martha’s Vineyard Coastal Observatory), as well as research diving for WHOI. I now work for WHOI full time, and am eager to get involved with IFE.
