Happy 50th Birthday Nautilus!

Happy 50th Birthday, Nautilus! On July 8, 1967, the Alexander von Humboldt came into service as a hydrographic research vessel in Rostock, East Germany. In 2008, the ship was given a new start as Exploration Vessel Nautilus operated by the non-profit Ocean Exploration Trust, becoming a unique exploration platform and training ship for over 900 scientists, engineers, and educators from 40 U.S. states and 46 countries. From the Mediterranean to our current expedition in the Eastern Pacific, Nautilus has allowed us to map and discover uncharted depths of our blue planet--and bring the excitement of live ocean exploration to the world. From the Corps of Exploration, our professional ship crew, and our global audience of explorers--sail onwards, Nautilus! Learn more about our 2017 Expedition.
