Stephen Licht is an Assistant Professor with the Ocean Engineering Department at the University of Rhode Island, where he started the Robotics Laboratory for Complex Underwater Environments.  The focus of the research in his lab is the development of autonomous underwater vehicles which can survive in dynamic, cluttered, and uncertain environments. Prior to joining the University of Rhode Island, Dr. Licht was a marine robotics research engineer with iRobot Corporation.

Stephen Licht graduated from Yale University in 1998 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  He received his PhD in Mechanical and Oceanographic Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in 2008.
