Christopher LeBoa is a junior at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, CA and is participating on this voyage as part of the Honors Research Program. He is a leader of his school's environmental club as well as a founder of the Bay Area Youth for The Environment which provides students in the San Francisco Bay area with resources to take an active stance on environmental issues. In the past Chris participated in other field-based science projects, including sea turtle conservation in Costa Rica, studying fire ecology in the backcountry of Yosemite National Park, and taking marine invertebrate censuses around the island of Espiritu Santo in the Gulf of California. During his time outside of class Chris also participates on his school's varsity water polo and swim teams, serves on his school's student council, volunteers at the local food bank and homeless program, and works as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the neighborhood pool. 

Chris LeBoa is a junior at Bishop O'Dowd High School, a college preparatory high school in Oakland, CA.
