Alex began work on Nautilus in the summer of 2011 as an intern ROV pilot through the MATE program.  He has since been working with the Institute for Exploration as an engineering intern in the off season, performing equipment maintenance and preparation, and building new hardware and software systems for this year's cruise.  Prior to working on Nautilus Alex was an Engineering Assistant with the Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts.    

Alex recently graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering.  He will be returning to URI in the fall to pursue a Master's degree in Ocean Engineering.
